Sharing the same name as the country's most popular religious figure, The Lady/Virgin of Guadalupe, this island is Mexico's farthest offshore territory. It is located 150 miles (241 km) off the west coast of the Mexican Baja California peninsula in the Pacific Ocean. Although it has an interesting ecological history and is one of Mexico's oldest official nature conservation areas, Guadalupe Island is primarily known for being one of the best places on Earth for great white shark viewing and cage diving.
